Hello! Welcome back!
I am cleaning today, which means I am putting off cleaning today. I went for a walk and everything! I am seeing the most gorgeous Eid outfits all over the city and I am struck and inspired by the beauty of humanity and the world, so not all is lost by me not accomplishing what I need to do. Probably.
This week, some art by my dear friend (and gm, and player in my TTRPG campaigns) fleece seafleece, my other dear friend Dolly, and a longer piece of writing from me, still in its draft form. It might be miserable to read in Substack, but this whole thing is a learning process for you and me alike.
fleece is a writer, artist, and chronic gm and maker of tabletop role-playing games. they are interested in blood, body horror, undeath, desperation, love both human and inhuman, the interplay of individuals and the power structures they indelibly exist under, monsters, giant robots, religion, and disability. he posts sporadically on tumblr (@seafleece) and on twitter (@mittromney_vevo).
William "Dolly" Doyle is a graphic designer and digital artist with a passion for jewelry, fashion, and the absurd. He is based in New Jersey and prides his work on being one-of-a-kind and full of life while remaining well put together and effective. You can find him at his website williampdoyle.net.
a song for your week
The fiction piece I’ve attached is too dang long for email! So I’ll put my song reccomendation here. From one of the albums I listened to on loop while writing the piece that follows, actually! The way John Darnielle writes lyrics blows me away forever and always, but this song especially manages to hit me like a truck.
O sing, sing, sing
For the dying of the day
Sing for the flames that will rip through here
And the smoke that will carry us away
O sing for the damage we've done
And the worse things that we'll do
Open your mouth up and sing for me now
And I will sing for you
